Kraftliner
Virgin-fibre liner for the outside of a corrugated box — bought on burst and ring crush, and on how it prints.
What it is.
Kraftliner is the outer ply of a corrugated board. Made from virgin kraft pulp, it carries the strength of the box: burst resistance for what happens in transit, and ring crush for what happens when boxes are stacked on a pallet six high in a container.
Two numbers do most of the specifying. Burst index tells you how the liner resists a puncture; RCT index tells you how the finished box will hold a stack. Both are quoted per gram, which is the honest way to compare liners — a heavier liner that is weaker per gram is not a better liner, it is a more expensive one.
Grammages produced run through the common box weights, with stiffness and Cobb specified alongside so that the converter knows how the liner will behave through the corrugator and the glue line.
