Testliner

Recycled liner for corrugated cases — the same job as kraftliner, done with recovered fibre and specified more tightly because of it.

What it is.

Testliner is made from recovered fibre rather than virgin pulp. For most boxes that is not a compromise: the liner is specified on the same properties — burst, ring crush, Cobb — and it either meets the box's compression target or it does not.

Where recycled fibre does need watching is consistency and moisture. Recovered furnish varies more than virgin pulp, so the tolerance band the mill holds matters more, and a liner that has picked up moisture in transit loses crush strength before it ever reaches the corrugator. Both are supply questions as much as paper questions, which is why we quote testliner against a named mill and a stated tolerance rather than against a grade name alone.
