What it is.
The non-heat-seal grade is the older construction and it is still specified deliberately, not by default. Some bagging machines fold and stitch rather than heat-seal. Some brands do not want a thermoplastic fibre in a product that sits in boiling water. Both point at this grade.
Because it is not carrying a seal component, the whole sheet is filter fibre — which is why it can be specified for high permeability and for resistance to prolonged boiling water brewing without the sheet breaking down.
