What it is.
Cosmetics packaging is a printing and finishing problem before it is a structural one. The board has to take hot foil, embossing, spot varnish and often a film lamination without the surface breaking up, and it has to hold a crisp crease afterwards because the carton is small and the folds are tight.
In practice that points at a coated board with controlled roughness and gloss, a white reverse where the pack opens, and consistent caliper so the finishing line does not have to be reset between pallets. Which exact grade depends on the decoration — a foiled and embossed carton and a plainly printed one are not the same specification even at the same weight.
