Duplex Board with Grey Back

What it is.

Duplex with a grey back is the workhorse of folding carton production. The top ply is coated for print; the back is left as recycled fibre, grey, because it faces inward and nobody sees it. That single decision is what makes it cheaper per square metre than a fully white board, and it is why the grade exists.

What buyers actually specify is the top-side print quality — whiteness, smoothness, gloss and ink absorbency — together with the stiffness the carton needs to stand up on shelf. Beyond that it is a converting question: creasing and folding behaviour, and whether the board is going to be film-laminated or blister-sealed, both of which the mill needs to know in advance because they change how the board is finished.

Runs as sheets or reels. Sheet size deviation is held to +3 / −1 mm; reel length tolerance is ±20 m.
