Uncoated Offset Woodfree
The workhorse of general print — uncoated, so it is bought on dimensional stability and ink absorbency rather than on gloss.
What it is.
Woodfree offset does the volume work: book bodies, forms, envelopes, general commercial print. Because there is no coating, the surface is the fibre, and what matters is that the fibre behaves the same across the reel and from reel to reel. A sheet that takes ink unevenly shows it immediately on solid areas, and one that moves with humidity puts a multi-colour job out of register.
White and cream shades are both produced. Cream is the usual choice for book bodies — a warmer tone is easier on the eye over three hundred pages, which is why almost every novel you have read was printed on it.
