High-opacity tobacco base — for components that must not show what is behind them, at a weight that still runs.
What it is.
Opacity is a problem in tobacco papers because the sheets are light. A component that lets the print or the contents behind it read through looks cheap, and on a tipping paper it can make the printed pattern look muddled.
The high-opacity grade is built to block that at the weights the converting line requires, while holding the strength, smoothness and ink penetration resistance of the standard grades. It is the grade to ask about whenever a design puts light-coloured print over a dark component, or the reverse.
